Dinosaurs of China Exhibit at The Miami Science Museum
Opens June 16, 2007

Just imagine walking through the front doors of a museum and standing underneath a massive-sized dinosaur. Or exploring the real bones of an 85-foot long dinosaur. Or discovering the remains of the famed-feathered dinosaurs. Visitors will have that chance and many others at the Miami Science Museum when the Dinosaurs of China opens on Father's Day Weekend. The best preserved and most abundant collection of real dinosaur fossils is on its way to the United States for its first exhibition in the Western Hemisphere. The Dinosaurs of China, an exhibit on loan from the Chinese government, features the fossilized bones of some of the largest and most controversial dinosaurs, including feathered dinosaurs. As you may remember, just recently it was discovered that the T-Rex was a distant relative of the chicken – proof of the bird/dino link.

The Dinosaurs of China exhibit will feature:

  • Dinosaurs that range from the really large to the really small – one such dinosaur is 85+ feet long and another is 1.5 feet
  • The majority of the exhibit are real fossil specimens, unlike other dinosaur exhibits that display recreated casts
  • Brand new species of dinosaurs (several were named in 2000)
  • Most fossil specimens have never been seen in the U.S.
  • Dinosaurs that may look familiar but most visitors have never heard of – that’s because Chinese dinosaurs eventually evolved in their own direction

This upcoming exhibit has never been seen in the U.S. and features fossils that have changed the way we view dinosaurs.
